Moore began her career as a singer in the 1960s and gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s with her soulful voice and hit songs.Some of her notable hits include “Lean on Me,” “You Stepped into My Life,” and “Love’s Comin’ At Ya.” Moore also won a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance, Female for her song “Lean on Me” in 1979.Aside from her successful music career, Melba Moore has also appeared in various Broadway musicals, including “Hair” and “Purlie,” for which she won a Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Musical in 1970.Throughout her career, Moore has continued to be active in both music and theater, and she remains a respected figure in the entertainment industry.
