Klymaxx is an American all-female R&B and funk band that emerged in the late 1970s and gained popularity throughout the 1980s. The group originated in Los Angeles, California, and became known for their soulful vocals, infectious grooves, and dynamic stage presence.Formed in 1979, Klymaxx initially consisted of Bernadette Cooper, Cheryl Cooley, Lorena Porter Shelby, Lynn Malsby, Robbin Grider, and Joyce “Fenderella” Irby, among others. Their music featured a blend of R&B, funk, and dance-pop elements, creating a distinctive sound that resonated with audiences.Klymaxx released several albums throughout the 1980s, including their self-titled debut album in 1980. However, it was their third album, “Meeting in the Ladies Room” (1984), that catapulted them to mainstream success. The album featured the hit singles “The Men All Pause” and the title track “Meeting in the Ladies Room,” which became signature songs for the group.In 1986, Klymaxx released their most successful album, “Klymaxx,” which featured the chart-topping single “I Miss You.” The ballad became one of their biggest hits and remains a classic in R&B music.Despite various lineup changes over the years, Klymaxx continued to release music and tour, maintaining a dedicated fan base.
